DigiRescueMe

European Union Project (ERASMUS+) with purpose of establishing
an international curriculum in search and rescue procedures in mining.

Project purpose

The purpose of the project is to create a uniform educational framework in the field of occupational safety and health in mining as part of search and rescue with the use of innovative solutions.

Project duration

The DigiRescueMe project runs from February 2022 to February 2025 and consists of five stages. Six research teams from four countries are involved in the project: Turkey, Portugal, Poland and Italy.

Expected results

The unification of occupational health and safety standards in the mining industry, leading to a general improvement in occupational safety and increased awareness of threats, as well as the implementation of modern educational tools to improve the training system, both for students and teachers.

About the Project

According to European Development Plan and EU Commission plans and targets, use of technological and
digital devices are of great importance in all levels of education even in vocational education (VET). Digitalization is one of the key targets to be reached by EU schools by 2027 (European Council - E+Programme). With this project, standardisation of curriculum and contemporary digital tools will be developed and it will be adapted to an innovative technological device which will make the learners' learning process active and reality based. The present project (DigiRescueMe) is in line with the Digital Education Plan that concentrates on the need to stimulate, support and scale up the digital and innovative education practises. As the integration of VR simulation and 3D techniques into the rescue education an innovative technology will be achieved especially for successful rescue education in vocational schools which is also aimed by European Council throughout Europe. By use of these innovative techniques and digital tools, the learners' knowledge will be kept alive and their readiness level and motivation will be high all the time. To create a safer environment, DigiREscueMe Project focuses on improving readiness, resilience and capacity of learners in vocational education. VET: In addition to above, with the integration of innovative approaches, more people will be able to reach knowledge and results which will make the effect of the project higher even than the desired level. Again as for European Development Plan, standardization of several issues including occupational health and safety (OSH) is of great importance. To enable this internationalization of the strategies, an alliance which is composed of professionals from different countries and different sectors will come together. In this context, the rescue processes of different countries which are based on national regulations and cultural barriers will be demolished and instead of these, a standardized common rescue education will be formed as a result of this partnership from different sectors. For the first time, the mental wellbeing in the rescue education will be taken into consideration, pedagogues and psychologists will be included in the process and a great contribution will be made both physically and mentally. All these international-based standardization and digitalization of rescue measures will make a contribution to vocational education and training. By using the products of the DigiRescueMe, VET providers will have an international-based road map for their workers mainly and especially in mining companies. So the institutional background and new research will add value to Vocational Education and Training quality by adapting new provision to current applications. With the creation of content as a project result, a standardized curriculum which will meet the needs of rescue education and vocational schools, will be developed. This curriculum will be innovative in terms of being composed by persons from different areas such as teachers, miners, engineers, pedagogues and psychologists and it will include technological tools which will make it more developed, digital and different from its contemporaries. Implementation of such a joint curriculum will make a contribution to the development of educational and technological capacities of vocational schools and training centers.
